The TEST....

Alright friends....I think that you all know what test I am talking about...EOG's.  Being a third grader teacher it is my students first time taking the test and they tend to get very nervous.  I'm looking for some good books or stories that I read to my students to help them get "pumped up!"  Please list any suggestions!

Spring Fever!

I can't believe how quickly spring has sprung!  My students have the fever and we still have three weeks before my Spring Break at school.  I have beginning to have the fever myself!

Now that it is warm, I am staying outside and staying busy.  So I have been looking for sites that will allow me to not only get the materials that I need for my classroom, but will have them made already!  I have found a fantastic site!

Busy Teacher's Cafe has all subjects and areas!  This is a really treasure! I have used many of the materials in my classroom and they are working fantastic!  The link to the site is below!

Science and Social Studies

With all the push for testing in math and reading, I feel like Science and Social Studies get overlooked.  Therefore, I always try to put some content based material in my research center.  I always try to find something that is interactive and fun!  I have found a site that goes with our science topic of bodies and bones.  It is an interactive owl pellet that the students can dissect on-line!  My students loved doing this activity!

Here is the link for it:  Owl Pellets

My search still continues.  I am now looking for other content based Science and Social Studies sites for my research center.  Please share any that you may have or know about!

I need your help!

As a third grade teacher, I am always looking for awesome sites to help my students learn.  We are very fortunate to have a SMARTboard in our classroom and a couple computers that we can use to help us become 21st century learners.  We also have access to a computer lab once a week to try out new sites.  As a class, we love the sites that help us learn by playing games.  I would like to collect a extensive list of sites that can be used in my classroom.  I need sites in all subjects!!!

One of our favorites sites that we have access to is Study Island.  I have access to this site through the school system in which I work for.  As a teacher, I love this site because of the academic learning features and subjects that it offers my students and allows them to retry until they master the topic.  My students love this site because of the game mode option.  This option allows students to complete questions and then choose a game to play.  This is an extra incentive to help them succeed.

So if you have found or used any sites in the past that really help third graders learn in the past, please share them!
